About Kadir Has university

Kadir Has University (KHU) was established in 1997, in Istanbul. The university aims, with its five faculties in engineering and natural sciences, economics and administrative sciences, communications, law and fine arts, in addition to its many vocational schools, to become a leading university in the educational and cultural fields in Turkey, as well as solidifying its position as an international centre for scientific research and development.

The university is located behind the ancient walls which are located in the oldest part of Istanbul. These walls are known and recognised as Cibali, the neighbourhood in which the main campus of Kadir Has University is located. It is just a few meters from the Golden Horn, the entrance to the harbour known as the “Golden Horn” since the Ottoman era.

The university is located nearby, in the Unkapani neighbourhood overlooking a port that opened in the city’s economic centre during the Ottoman era and continued in use until the 19th century. Energy is released from it daily in the early morning for all neighbourhoods in European Istanbul.
