The Council of Higher Education in Turkey decided to conduct an entrance exam for foreign students in Turkish universities (the unified central YOS exam), starting from the year 2023, to accept students from abroad, in order to complete their undergraduate studies in a Turkish university.
What is the unified central YOS exam? TR-YOS
- Based on the decision issued by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey, the decision regarding the admission of students from abroad has been amended.
- This test is a requirement for foreign students to be accepted to study in Turkey based on certain criteria.
- According to this new decision, the first admission test for foreign students in Turkey will be held on January 29, 2023 by the Assessment, Testing and Placement Center ÖSYM .
- On the other hand, the Turkish Higher Education Council recommends using the TR-YOS exam results to accept foreign students, whether they are inside or outside Turkey.
- The TR-YOS test language will be Turkish, Arabic, French, German, English and Russian.
- The test will be held in each country according to the time announced in Turkey, and it will be in the branches of the Center ÖSYM .
- The test starts at 11:15 am Turkish time.
- The duration of the exam will be 100 minutes
- The YÖS exam will be valid and effective for two years only.
- ÖSYM Center will provide information and details related to the exam to the student in English or Turkish so that the student does not make mistakes when registering.
Please keep in mind that the ÖSYM Center It has nothing to do with the student’s registration at the university, residential accommodation, student accommodation, any free scholarship, or any expenses related to the student in general. (It is only a center through which the test is conducted and is affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Education)
Who can take the TR-YÖS exam?
Those who wish to study in Turkey, in diploma and bachelor’s programs in the Republic of Turkey, provided that the student has completed and graduated from high school or is in the last year of high school:
- Foreign students
- Foreign students who hold Turkish citizenship as a dual nationality.
Very important information:
- If the student registered and did not complete the registration procedures, or if he made a mistake during registration, or if he did not take the test after registration, or was absent from the exam, or went to the test center and was not entered for the exam, or entered the exam and was withdrawn from it, or did not get a mark In the examination, the amount of money paid by the student will not be refunded. (Registration fees are non-refundable).
- The information and data that the student enters, if it is wrong or does not belong to him, he will bear the responsibility and be deprived of the right to take and submit the exam.
- If the student commits a mistake even after passing the exam and does not follow the rules of the exam, he will also be deprived of it.
How can you apply for an TR-YOS exam?
The application for the exam will be electronic via the Internet, and the student will apply on his own and pay electronically through this link attached below:
- For students wishing to apply from outside Turkey through the ÖSYM Center
- They can register through this link and click on the word Register now, then you choose I live outside Turkey.
- After the link is opened and you are transferred to the registration screen, click on the screen so that the data is entered correctly and completely.
- You will receive a code via e-mail or phone number for confirmation, and you will create an account and password. It is recommended to keep it and not share your confidential information with anyone.
- After creating your own account, go to the application stage and attach all your information. For those outside Turkey, they can apply and pay online.
- Those who are inside Turkey, apply through one of the branches of the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center, on a compulsory basis
- Those who register data via the electronic system must pay the amount before the end of the allowed submission period.
- Those who are outside Turkey and are going to take the exam from outside Turkey without a personal photo, the student goes to one of the center’s branches located in his country to obtain an entry paper for the test and it is advised to obtain it before the date of the exam and before the official holiday in his country.
- If the student has an entry paper without a personal photo, he will not be entered into the test.
- Whoever owns a passport must write the passport number on the right side of the paper.
